Competitive pressures, cost challenges, and increased customer expectations are driving companies to improve the way they develop and introduce products to the market. Whether we are cultivating internally born ideas, or trying to respond to customer requirements and market demands, CIARA’s New Product Introduction (NPI) team and processes can help you. Our team will automate tasks, exposes performance bottlenecks, and drives consistent execution and continuous improvement.
CIARA NPI team will also provide management visibility into the product development pipeline. Since NPI is so intertwined with other product development processes, its adoption and execution significantly influences your potential for success. With full adoption for industry best practices and innovative technology, CIARA NPI team successfully increases speed and repeatability of effective product introductions.
Once a design has been decided, CIARA assigns the project to our NPI team who work on building the first unit so our customer can begin functionality testing. The NPI team starts by procuring the first unit’s components and works with engineering to create the official build and configuration documents. All our build documents contain visual as well as verbal instructions to keep the guess work out of manufacturing. Taking care of this in advance of placing the product on the production floor avoids unnecessary delays and complications.
FAT (First Article Test)
A First Article Test unit is the final step to bringing a solution from concept to production. Building a pre-production unit and running it through a first article test process is considered essential for most companies. At CIARA we believe that all new product designs should go through a formal FAT process to make sure that all customer design requests have been met.
All hardware components are scanned and bios, firmware or customers software settings are recorded electronically to maintain a master recipe of how a product is to be built. Once received by the client the unit will be reviewed, tested and any deficiency will be documented and relayed back for the NPI team to make the necessary adjustments to the process. Only once a FAT unit is approved by the client, the final production units may start.
Once the first engineering sample is built, procedures will be documented as the system is integrated. To properly document the integration, the sample unit is tested during each phase of the process to provide verbal and visual direction for the technician while production units are on the assembly line. These procedures and tests are conducted by our NPI (New Product Introduction) team.
